FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What levels of hula do you offer?
Beginners (children and adults), advanced and performing

How young or old do you have to be to do hula?
All ages are welcome.

Can boys do hula?
Yes. The same dance is adapted for a kane (male) version.

Do I need previous dance experience?
No. Just a heart and mind willing to embrace living life through the art of Hawaiian dance.

I have danced in a halau before, do you have advanced levels?
Depending upon the number of dancers determines the level of new classes.

Does the halau compete?
No. Hula is taught as it was given to be shared with all.

What happens if I have to miss a class?
Full tuition is still due at the beginning of the month.

What kind of costumes are needed?
There are different costumes for different dances. All costumes are made in mind to be flattering to all figures.

What do I need to wear to class?
A Pareo (sarong) is required. If you only have a pa'u skirt that will be ok, although I would like you to acquire a sarong as I can see your hips and knees better. Absolutely no jeans are allowed while dancing in class.

How much does it cost?
Pepe's (ages 2-4): $20.00 per month
Keikis (ages 5-6): $30.00 per month
Keikis (ages 7-12): $38.00 per month
Wahine (ages 13-up): $48.00 per month
Mauka Wahine: $48.00 per month

The above prices are for one class per week.
If you would like to dance 2 classes per week, the cost is $68.00 per month.

Are there additional costs other than the monthly tuition?
Yes. If a study tour, performance or workshop is scheduled, there will be additional costs. These will be offered as optional learning experiences to the student.
